Tucson and Catalina Foothills started their respective seasons out strong. The Badgers went 4-2 to take third place at the Red Mountain Lion Country Classic and the Falcons went 4-2 at the Canyon del Oro Dorado Classic but injuries, combined with a deadly schedule, has put the breaks to the Falcon’s fast start.
Ironwood Ridge plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth and another run in the fifth to comeback and defeat Rincon/University 10-9 in the second round of the Dorado Softball Classic held Friday in Marana.
Flowing Wells High School will be inducting their Fourteenth class into the Sports Hall of Fame on Friday September 30, 2016. The induction ceremony will be prior to the football game against Amphitheater High School.
Arizona Christian added All-Southern Arizona infielder Shae Bushey to its 2017 recruiting class this past week. Bushey, an infielder from Cienega, batted .439 in her junior year with two home runs, four triples, 10 doubles and 21 RBIs.
The 2nd Annual GARB Athletics/OC Sports Southern Arizona High School All-Star Series presented by the Kino Baseball League concluded Friday night at Catalina Foothills High School.
About four dozen baseball standouts from Southern Arizona took part in the Division III-V futures game with Team Teal coming away with a 9-2 win over Team Copper. Former Desert Christian head coach Grant Hopkins led Team Copper and Catalina head coach Shane Folsom was in charge of Team Teal.
It started out as a pitching duel between Mia Trejo (11-6) and Brianna Aguilar-Beaucage (17-5) but the Division II elimination game held at Amphitheater on Wednesday night turned into a scoring fest with the Lancers coming out on top 13-7.
