In their last home game of the season Tuesday night, the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles got off to a slow start and despite a fourth-quarter rally, fell to the Paradise Honors Panthers, 41-24.

Paradise Honors started the game with a 14-0 run and held the Golden Eagles to just two points in the first quarter.

“We came here focused,” Paradise Honors coach Lynn Ramage said. “Knowing what we had to do and knowing that we had to do it well.”

Hallie Kavven dominated the first half for the Panthers, scoring 16 points.

After only scoring seven points in the first half, the Golden Eagles came back after halftime with a more aggressive attitude on defense.

“The way we started off, we had to come out with a lot of more effort,” Bourgade Catholic coach Robert Walker said. “Defense creates offense.”

That motto led to a 13-0 run by the Golden Eagles in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Emma Henke, a freshman coming off the bench for the Golden Eagles, led the way with back-to back steals, scoring after each defensive stand.

“It’s a lot of pressure,” Henke said, “but I like it.”

Henke finished the night with eight points and three steals.

With only four seniors on the team (Mileisi Diaz, Victoria Hernandez, Questia Mayungu, and Isabella Ramirez), Walker called the Golden Eagles' season a “struggle” and took this season as a learning experience to build for the future.

“The future’s bright, it’s just about being patient,” Walker said. “Looking towards the future, we’ll want to win a majority of our games, and even if we don’t, we’ll play a lot harder because we’ll have more experience.”

The Golden Eagles (1-16, 0-9) will play their final game of the season Friday night at Odyssey Institute (5-11, 3-6).
