Ganado and Page girls and boys teams earned 3A North Region victories this past Saturday.

Ganado Lady Hornets outlasted Tuba City Lady Warriors, 51-44. It was a sweep for Ganado. In boy's action, Ganado posted a 62-55 win over Tuba City.

Page Lady Sand Devils clinched the 3A North Region regular season title, by posting a 64-36 victory over Window Rock Lady Scouts. By virtue of its win, Page has earned the No. 1 seed in 3A North Regional Tournament, February 7-9. In the boy's game, Page knocked off Window Rock, 63-56.

One week remains for teams in the 3A North Region regular season. The Regional Tournament is scheduled for February 7-9. First round of the Regional Tournament is scheduled for February 7 at Monument Valley High School Nash Gymnasium in Kayenta.

First round winners advance to the semifinals on February 8 at Ganado High School Hornet Pavilion at Burnside Junction.

Losers of the semifinal games will play for third place, while winners of the Final Four advance to the Regional Tournament championship on February 9 at Window Rock High School Events Center in Fort Defiance.

Girls

Page 64, Window Rock 36

Page Lady Sand Devils posted an emotional 64-36 victory over the Window Rock Lady Scouts.

Window Rock lost its seventh game in a row. The Lady Scouts dropped to 1-7 in region and 10-13 overall. Page remains undefeated in region play at 8-0 and the Lady Sand Devils are 18-4 overall.

On Senior Night, the defending 3A State Champions honored its four seniors, Myka Taliman, Mikala Benally, Amy Yellowman and Meagan Fuller.

"It was an emotional night, as our four seniors played their last home game of the season," said Page head coach Ryan Whitehorse. "The girls kept their focus, as we head into our last week of games on the road."

Page raced out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter. The hot-shooting Lady Sand Devils scorched the cords for 25 points in the second quarter. Window Rock managed to score 11 points. Page held a 44-20 halftime lead.

The Lady Sand Devils continued its hot-shooting during the third quarter, canning 17 points. The Lady Scouts tallied nine points. Leading into the fourth quarter, Page led, 61-29. The Lady Scouts outscored the Lady Sand Devils, 7-5, during the fourth quarter.

Camryn Nockideneh tallied 14 points to lead Page. Meagan Fuller added nine points. Diana Secody, Myka Taliman and Amy Yellowman all contributed seven points for Page. Torrance Begay chipped in with six points for the Lady Sand Devils.

"It was a good overall team performance by the girls," Whitehorse said. "Everyone contributed and did their part to get the 'W'."

Page has three games remaining. The Lady Sand Devils travel to Gilbert to face American Leadership Academy-Gilbert North this Tuesday in a freedom game at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Sand Devils has a pair of region games remaining. The Lady Sand Devils will be at Chinle, 5-3 region, 14-6 overall, to face the Lady Wildcats this Friday at 6 p.m. Page ends its regular season at Ganado, 5-3 region, 17-9 overall, this Saturday at 2 p.m.

Window Rock will be on the road in Kayenta to take on the Monument Valley Lady Mustangs, 1-7 region, 8-15 overall, this Friday at 6 p.m. The Lady Scouts host the Tuba City Lady Warriors, 4-4 region, 14-6 overall, this Saturday at 4 p.m.

Girls

Ganado 51, Tuba City 44

Ganado outscored Tuba City three of the four quarters, to post a 51-44 victory in an important 3A North Region game in the Hornet Pavilion at Burnside Junction.

Ganado took a six point lead, 18-12, at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Hornets increased its lead to 29-21 at halftime, after outscoring the Lady Warriors, 11-9.

Tuba City battled back in the third quarter, canning 14 points, while Ganado netted eight points. The Lady Hornets held a 37-35 advantage after three quarters. Ganado put the game into the books, outscoring Tuba City, 14-9, during the fatal fourth quarter.

Michelene Coleman led Ganado with 24 points and nine rebounds. Deana Curley canned 11 points for Ganado. Jayla McIntosh scored 10 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out six assists for the Lady Hornets. Abigail Benally handed out five assists.

"Overall, we played well on the defensive end," said Ganado head coach Mike Bitsuie. "Good job to our team playing solid throughout the game. We responded to the challenge. Abigail (Benally), Deana (Curley) and Jayla (McIntosh) all did very well pushing the ball today. Abigail set it up and ran the offense well."

Ganado, 5-3 region, 17-9 overall, travel to Chinle this Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Lady Hornets host Hopi Lady Bruins this Thursday at 6 p.m. The Lady Hornets entertain Page this Saturday at 2 p.m.

Tuba City, 4-4 region, 14-6 overall, host Monument Valley Lady Mustangs, 1-7 region, 8-15 overall, this Tuesday at 6 p.m. Tuba City will be at Window Rock this Saturday at 4 p.m.

Boys

Chinle 68, Window Rock 35

Chinle improved its 3A North Region record to an undefeated 8-0 mark, after defeating Window Rock, 68-35.

"We didn't play very well in the first half, but our defensive pressure kept us in the game," said Chinle head coach Raul Mendoza. "In the second half, we settled down, before we pulled away."

Jason John led Chinle with 17 points. Cooper Burbank added 16 points and Curtis Begay tallied 11 points for Chinle.

Adrian Destea and Marian Ynzunza both scored eight points for Window Rock.

Chinle, 8-0 region, 22-4 overall, host Ganado, 1-7 region, 4-17 overall, this Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Window Rock, 5-3 region, 11-11 overall, travel to Kayenta to take on Monument Valley Mustangs, 3-5 region, 13-10 overall this Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Fighting Scouts entertain the Tuba City Warriors at 5:30 p.m. this Saturday in the Events Center.

Chinle 61, Window Rock 36

Led by Stacey Begay and Grayce Claw, the Chinle Lady Wildcats posted a 61-36 victory in 3A North Region play in Chinle.

Begay poured in 20 points and Claw added 13 points in a winning cause for Chinle.

Bayle Talkalai netted 14 points and Asia James tallied 13 points for Window Rock.

"We played a well rounded game," said Chinle head coach Francine McCurtain. "We focused on defense and attacked when we can. We wanted to continue and keep our lead. Although, we made turnovers, we did our best to make up for it. Window Rock did a good job on the offensive boards. We need to box out more. We came out on top. Window Rock can be tough, along with the other 3A North teams. We hit 10 three-pointers. So our shooting opened up opportunities for us."

Chinle, 5-3 region, 14-6 overall, entertain Ganado this Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Window Rock, 1-7 region, 10-13 overall, are on the road to face Monument Valley Lady Mustangs, 1-7 region, 8-15 overall, this Friday at 6 p.m. The Fighting Scouts host the Tuba City Lady Warriors this Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Events Center in Fort Defiance.

Winslow 44, Show Low 42

In a 3A East Region contest, Winslow Lady Bulldogs edged the Show Low Lady Cougars.

Briana Little, Andrea Willeto and Justine Butterfield all scored 10 points for Winslow.

"It was a great all around game by both teams," said Winslow head coach Jerron Jordan. "I am very proud of my team and the late defensive stops. We were able to get in final seconds of the game."

Cody Watson led Show Low with 18 points.

Boys

Winslow 70, Show Low 59

Tyrell Young poured in 22 points, Zachary Wagner and Elias Stewart added 14 points each to lead Winslow Bulldogs to a 70-59 victory over Show Low Cougars in 3A East Region.

"We have scored at least 70 points in the last five games," said Winslow head coach Scott Corum. "That is where we want to be. We feel like we have a great chance of winning when we score in the 70's. Elias Stewart was big in the third quarter with 11 points. We put better pressure on the ball in the second half and were able to open up a double digit lead. Tyrell (Young) was outstanding late in the game and he hit some big shots."

Girls

Holbrook 56, Payson 34

The Holbrook Lady Roadrunners posted a 56-34 victory over the Payson Longhorns in a 3A East Region contest.

Megan Cummings tallied 17 points and Mayeha Aberle added 10 points for Holbrook.

"We played well in the first and third quarters," said Holbrook head coach Greg Perkins. "Fortunately, we were able to rest the starters in the fourth quarter. Megan (Cummings) had a good game offensively and Madison (Chappell) continues to be a defensive force. Desirae (Bain) also scored well early. Mayeha (Aberle) struggled in the first half, but bounced back in the third quarter with eight points, before sitting out the fourth quarter.
