Page turned in a solid performance enroute to earning the Division III, Section IV boy's cross-country championships at Hidden Cove Golf Course in Holbrook.

Page chalked up an impressive 17 points when the Sand Devils placed five of its scoring runners in the top six positions.

The Prescott Badgers finished second place, totaling 86 points, followed by Tuba City Warriors with 108 points, among the 16 full teams.

The girl's and boy's cross-country state championships are scheduled for Saturday, November 10 at Cave Creek Golf Course in northwest Phoenix.

Prescott nailed down the Division III, Section IV girl's crown with 76 points. Page copped runner-up with 86 points. Coconino settled for third place with 92 points, among 14 full squads.

The St. Michael Indian School Lady Cardinals posted 35 points to claim the Division IV, Section III girl's title. Hopi was second with 75 points, followed by Alchesay with 85 points, among seven full teams.

Northland Prep of Flagstaff garnered the Division IV, Section III boy's championship with 25 points. Hopi finished as runner-up with 55 points and Greyhills Academy netted 131 points for third place, among 11 full scoring schools.

Page senior Bowen Martin, after resting for the past three races, proved he is one of the state's top harriers. Martin garnered the individual title, touring the 5K course in 16:12.

Martin said he felt good throughout the race.

"I didn't race the last three races because of a hip injury .... I was resting," Martin said. "My hip felt good. I was ready today. My teammates did a good job today. We had five of our scoring runners in the top six positions."

Sand Devil senior Morgan Fowler finished second place, posting a 16:14.

Fowler said he has been working hard throughout the season and had a good race.

"We had a good week of practice," Fowler said. "Today it showed. My teammates and myself stayed together. We were well prepared. Now we focus on the state meet."

Page freshman Lance Harris crossed the finish line in 16:43 for third place.

Trent Holiday, a sophomore for Page, copped fifth place, touring the course in 16:56. Page's fifth scoring runner was senior Kaipo Uejo, who was clocked in 16:57.

Chinle senior Isaiah Honyumptewa broke up Page's perfect score, by finishing fourth place. Honyumptewa was timed in 16:44.

Girls Division III, Section IV

Chinle senior Alisia Honyumptewa easily captured the girl's Division III, Section IV race.

Honyumptewa led from start to finish. Midway through the race, Honyumptewa pulled away from the field. She crossed the finish line with an 18:49, well ahead of Prescott junior Makenna Bray, who was clocked in 19:36 for runner-up honors.

Prescott won thre team title, chalking up 76 points. Page settled for runner-up, totaling 86 points. Coconino finished third place with 92 points, edging Ganado with 93 points for fourth place. Tuba City scored 132 points, followed by Chinle 133 for sixth place, among 14 scoring teams.

Girls Division IV, Section III

St. Michael Indian School junior standout Aliandrea Upshaw was tough as nails throughout the race, enroute to her individual championship in the girls Division IV, Section III race.

Upshaw said she ran her race. She said she knew Pinon senior Precious Robinson would be up close racing.

"I had a good workouts throughout the week," Upshaw said. "I was focused and ready to race. I've had good races with Precious (Robinson) throughout the year. I am glad for my teammates. My teammates ran an exceptional race. I am proud of my teammates."

St. Michael placed its five scoring runners in the top 12 positions to easily capture the team championship with 35 points.

St. Michael sophomore Chiara Holgate claimed fifth place with a 21:11. Lady Cardinals sophomore Lynelle Slim finished eighth place, touring the course in 22:03. Sophomore Auri Quintana was clocked in 22:16 for ninth place. The Lady Cardinals' fifth scoring runner was Ashley Phillips, who finished 12th place with a 22:40 showing.

Hopi tallied 75 points for second place, followed by Alchesay with 85 points. Many Farms claimed fourth place, netting 95 points. Northland Prep rounded out the top five scoring teams witjh 102 points.

Boys Division IV, Section III

Northland Prep of Flagstaff scored 25 points to win the boys Division IV, Section III championship.

Hopi claimed runner-up, netting 55 points. Greyhills Academy copped third place with 131 points, followed by Many Farms with 134 points BASIS Flagstaff rounded out the top five schools with 145 points, among the 11 scoring teams.

Northland Prep senior Micah Stanton was the individual champion, posting a 16:26.

Hopi senior Jihad Nodman was second place, clocking a 16:30. Joseph City's Talon Smith followed in third place with a 16:48. Valley Sanders' junor Justin James was fourth, posting a 17:02. Rounding out the top five finishers was Northland Prep's Hayden Anderson with a 17:04.
