Window Rock hosts Fighting Scouts Cross Country Invite

Window Rock Unified School District Athletic Department is hosting its second of third cross country meets this year with the inaugural Fighting Scouts Invitational this Saturday in Fort Defiance.
Last month the Window Rock Invitational took place at the high school campus. The 3A North Region Cross Country Championship and Northern Arizona Interscholastic Association (NAIC) for middle schoola is scheduled for October 27 at Window Rock.
"The Window Rock Athletic Department is excited to host a total of three meets, including the Fighting Scouts Invite October 13, as well as the NAIC and 3A North (Region) Championship on October 27," said Window Rock Athletic Director Ryan Dodson. "The opportunity to host events brings teams to our (Fort Defiance) community and gives our cross country families a chance to stay close to home and enjoy their student/athletes' performance."
The Fighting Scouts Invitational includes high school and middle school teams.
A middle school coaches' meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. The middle school girl's race is set for 10 a.m., followed by the middle school boy;s race at 10:45 a.m.
The high school coaches' is scheduled for 11 a.m. The combined girl's varsity and junior varsity race begins at 11:30 a.m. The final race of the meet is scheduled for 12 p.m. with the combined boy's varsity and junior varsity participants.
At conclusion of the final race, an awards program will take place. The top 20 individual finishers will be presented a medal. An award will be presented to first and second place team finisher in the middle school and high school divisions.
The middle shool will feature three schools, Pinon Accelerated, Red Mesa and host Tsehootsooi.
High school teams participating are Ganado, Many Farms, Red Mesa and host Window Rock.
