Hamilton travels to Chandler High as the Wolves and Huskies will battle for the Arizona Ave Trophy.

Both teams are coming into this game with 7-2 records as the Wolves are currently on a five-game winning streak, while the Huskies had their six-game winning streak ended last week in a shootout loss to the Perry Pumas.

Since Chandler’s 24-21 loss to Mountain Pointe early in the season, the Wolves have been dominant on both sides of the ball, averaging 54 points per game as opposed to only allowing an average of 21 points.

“You know they’re tough and they’ve got a great D-Line and their middle linebacker is very impressive,” Hamilton coach Dick Baniszewski said. “We’re going to do what we do and add a couple wrinkles and were going to take it one day at a time and try to get better.”

Hamilton’s offense has been an opposing defenses worst nightmare as the Huskies are averaging 46 PPG behind the dynamic duo of Tyler Shough and Jawhar Jordan Jr.

Shough, the recently committed Oregon Duck, passed for a season-high 352 yards along with 2 TDs and one interception in last weeks’ loss and is averaging about 273 yards through the air per game.

Syracuse commit, Jordan Jr., is coming off his best game of the season with 297 yards and 6 TDs on the ground and is averaging 162 yards on the ground per game.

The Huskies explosive running back has collected 200+ rushing yards in four out of the nine games so far, this season.

While the Wolves’ defense hasn’t allowed a single rusher to gain 200 or more yards on the ground this season Jordan Jr. certainly possesses the talent to be the first.

“Their linebackers are really smart and aggressive, they’re going to play strong. And I know they’re definitely going to keep their eye on me,” Jordan Jr. said.

While on the other side of the ball for Hamilton their defense will be looking to rebound after allowing 800 total yards of offense and 65 points last week.

As Junior QB Jacob Conover fresh off his 309 yards and 2 TD passing performance against Brophy College Prep in the Wolves’ 49-18 victory will look to gash the Huskies’ defense like Perry QB Brock Purdy did a week ago.

This rivalry will only be amplified by the atmosphere and the fact that these teams are competing for a good seed in the playoffs as the Huskies are currently ranked No. 4 while the Wolves are ranked No.5, according to AZPREPS365.

“There’s going to be a ton of people there, so we just have to come prepared and block the noise out and do our job and focus on every individual play and have some fun,” Shough said.

Chandler will be looking to secure the 6A Premier section, while the Huskies’ will be aiming to set a three-way tie for first with the Wolves and Pumas to send the Premier region to a tie-breaker as Perry looks to be the favorite against a struggling Basha Bears team.
