Westwood hosts 8th annual HoHoKam T & F Invite April 29-30

The track and field regular season is winding down and one of the last meet's for athletes for qualify for state takes place Friday April 29 and Saturday April 30 with the 8th annual Mesa HoHoKams Invitational at Westwood High.
Twenty-six schools are entered with competiton on Friday for athletes trying to qualify for Saturday's finals. Schools entered are: Basha, Brophy, Casa Grande, Chandler, Corona del Sol, Desert Edge, Desert Ridge, Desert Vista, Dobson, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, Hamilton, Highland, Marcos de Niza, McClintock, Mesa, Mountain Pointe, Mesa Mtn. View, Red Mountain, St. Mary's, Sandra Day O'Connor, Skyline, Tempe, Trevor Browne, Westwood and Xavier.
Field event starting times on Friday: Noon-4:30 p.m. - Girls long jump; boys triple jump; girls pole vault; boys discus; girls shot put and boys high jump. 5-9:30 p.m. -- boys long jump, girls triple jump, boys pole vault, girls discus, boys shot put and girls high jump. Field event starting times on Saturday: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. -- Girls long jump; boys triple jump; girls pole vault; boys discus; girls shot put and boys high jump. 5 p.m.-8 p.m. -- boys long jump, girls triple jump, boys pole vault, girls discus, boys shot put and girls high jump.
Lane events begin Friday at 2 p.m. and continue through 8:30 p.m. The schedule of lane event finals on Saturday is as follows: 4 p.m. -- 3,200 relay, boys, then girls ; 5 p.m. - 110 and 100 hurdles and 100 meters; 5:30 p.m. - 1,600 meters; 5:50 p.m. - 400 relay; 6:30 p.m. - 400 meters; 6:45 p.m. - 300 hurdles; 7:10 p.m. - 800 meters; 7:30 p.m. -- 200 meters; 7:45 p.m. - 3,200 meters; 8:15 p.m.- Watermelon 400 relay; 8:30 p.m. - 1,600 relay.
Among the top athletes scheduled to compete are: Girls -- Chandler's Makaila Flannigan (hurdles); Ky Westbrook (sprints) Alexis Roberts (400); Sherrelle Jordan (hurdles); Alexis Clay (hurdles). Xavier's Sarah Fakler and Katie Penney (distances); Desert Vista's Yasmine Yacut (distances); Ashlee Moore (high jump); Destiny Lundy (400) and Victoria McArthur (hurdles); Desert Edge's Bianca Burrell (400); Mesa Mountain View's Lindsay Pew (pole vault). Boys -- Westwood's Cameron Taylor (hurdles); Chandler's Paul Perkins (hurdles); Mountain View's Carter Brown (100 meters); Desert Vista's Riley Pendergast (discus); Aidan Foster (pole vault); Basha's Garrett Starkey (pole vault); Hamilton's Just N. Thymes (sprints); Mountain Pointe's Martin Moriel (400); Red Mountain's Devin Gordon (shot put).
Admission each day is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children 12 and under are free.
