The calendar turned to April last Friday and most softball teams are a third to half way  through their region schedules.

Here is a glance at  East Valley and Southern Arizona region races as of April 4:

5A Central: MGilbert and Mesa Mountain View lead with 3-1 records. Right behind are Dobson and Basha at 2-1. 5A East Valley:  Perry and Casa Grande are the leaders at 4-1 followed closely by Skyline at 4-2. 5A Fiesta: HXavier (2-0) leads Red Mountain (1-0) and Hamilton (2-1). 5A Southern: Ironwood Ridge (3-0) is sitting on top with Sunnyside (2-1) and Marana Mountain View (2-1) just behind. 5A Gila Valley: Cibola is the lone unbeaten in the region at 3-0. 4A Desert Sky: Queen Creek (5-0) is the leader with Saguaro and Cactus Shadows next at 3-1 each. 4A East Sky: WNotre Dame at 4-0 leads, but Higley (5-1) is in the hunt as are Arcadia (4-1) and Willliams Field (3-1). 4A Gila: RSahuarita and Douglas are tied with 4-0 marks with Cholla just a game back at 3-1.  4A Sonoran and 4A Kino: Begin region play this week, April 5-9.
