Four-star quarterback will lead Valor Christian against Arizona power Saguaro.
Two of the top two teams not only out west, but in the country, will collide Aug. 27 in Colorado.
Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), led by "D-Caff," better known as Dylan McCaffrey, will host Arizona small-school power Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.) on Aug. 27.
The host team is the defending state 5A champion after going 12-2 with McCaffrey, the nation's No. 100 recruit from the Class of 2017, accounting for 3,300 yards and 40 touchdowns. McCaffrey is the younger brother of 2015 Heisman Trophy runner-up Christian McCaffrey.
Saguaro, a school of just 1,300 students, has won eight state titles in the last 10 years and will feature four of the top 1,000 players in the country. One of them is not the team's dynamic running back Stone Matthews, who rushed for 2,155 yards last year.
The Sabercats, who have won 122 games over 10 seasons, are coached by Jason Mohns, who said the game is attractive for several reasons.
"First off, any time you have an opportunity to travel with your team to play an out-of-state opponent it's an awesome experience that these kids will always remember," he said. "Secondly, we get the chance to represent the state of Arizona against one of the premier programs from the state of Colorado.
"Lastly, it's an exciting matchup for fans of high school football across the country to see some of the best college football prospects in the west line up and compete against each other."
Both teams will be heavily considered for preseason Top 25 national consideration.
