Volleyball: Nike TOC update

Arizona will be represented by eight schools with shot at playign in the elite (Platinum bracket) at Saturday's second day of the annual Nike Tournament of Champions Volleyball Invite taking place in Tempe and Phoenix.

Corona del Sol, Mountain Pointe, Xavier, Gilbert, Notre Dame Prep, Millennium, Hamilton and Desert Vista have matches late Saturday morning or early Saturday afternoon to qualify for Platinum bracket (top bracket. Losing teams of the eight bracket placement matches will play in the Gold bracket (a notch below Platinum).

Matches to determine the Platinum and Gold brackets will be played at the Kroc Center in PhoenixThe Kroc Center address is 1375 E. Broadway Rd., Phoenix. Here are the matchups:

11:30 a.m. -- Xavier vs. PK Yonge (Gainesville, Fla.); Mountain Pointe vs Corona del Sol; Parkland (Allentown, Penn); Lewis Palmer Colo. vs. Emerald Ridge, Wash.; Desert Vista vs. Bishop O'Dowd, Calif; Hamilton vs. Millennium. 12:30 p.m. -- Jesuit (Portland. Ore.) vs. Gilbert; Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, Calif.) vs. Notre Dame Prep.

Bracket play for Platinum and Gold begins at 2:30 and continues through to early evening with placement matches. Title matches are set for approximately 5:30 p.m. (Gold) and 6:30 p.m. (Platinum).
