Basketball teams from Tolleson support each other

February 23, 2011 by Don Ketchum, AZPreps365

"=""> With about three minutes left in Tolleson’s Class 5A Division Ii quarterfinal basketball game on Wednesday night (Feb. 23), a group of girls wearing pink T-shirts started singing.
"=""> “Na-na-na-nah, na-na-na-nah, hey, hey, hey, goooood-bye!’’
"=""> Tolleson coach Rich Brumbaugh turned around and told them, “Not quite yet. Maybe in a couple of minutes.’’
"=""> Still, he was happy to receive support. The singers were members of the school’s top-seeded girls basketball team, which one night earlier won its first-round game over No. 16 Glendale Deer Valley 70-38.
"=""> The boys players were there for that one, according to Brumbaugh, showing their support.
"=""> “That’s the way it should be, the teams supporting each other,’’ he said.
"=""> The boys are expected to cheer for the girls when they face No. 8 Phoenix Barry Goldwater at Tolleson on Friday night (Feb. 25). And the girls hope they will get another chance to sing on Saturday night (Feb. 26) when the eighth-seeded boys travel to face top-seeded Phoenix Pinnacle.
