Brophy’s boys volleyball team won the 23rd annual Las Vegas Easter Invitational, defeating Buchanan of Clovis, Calif. 25-21, 20-25, 15-8 in Tuesday’s final of the 48-team tournament.
Brophy senior setter/opposite hitter Andrew Lincoln received tournament MVP honors and was joined on the All-Tournament team by teammates Cole Herrmann, Carson Flood, Austin Inglett and Adam Randolph.
“In both the (tournament) semifinals and the finals, we played really loose,” Brophy coach Tony Oldani said. “There was a freedom in being in those matches that allowed our guys to just play without concern about how the outcome should go. We had great energy throughout the night. Buchanan is an incredible team and I couldn't be prouder of our effort. In the third set we called a timeout at 7-7 and really addressed winning the tournament for the first time. We then went on an 8-1 run behind Lincoln's amazing performance. His poise, along with Herrmann's leadership and Flood's energy carried us to the end.”
