Maxpreps’ third ranked boys basketball team in the country, Findlay Prep of Henderson, Nevada, is in town to play two Valley teams in the second annual Desert Challenge event.
Up first for Findlay Prep is Hillcrest Academy of Phoenix and its sophomore guard Jay Green of Australia. Tip-off for Friday’s game is 6:30 p.m. at Scottsdale’s Rancho Solano Prep.
On Saturday, Shadow Mountain, the defending Division II state champ, gets its shot at Findlay Prep. That game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Rancho Solano.
Findlay Prep is loaded with talent, including University of Arizona-bound guard Alonzo Trier, Auburn commit Horace Spence, UNLV-bound Justin Jackson and one of the nation’s top point guards, Derryck Thornton Jr. Doors will open an hour before the start of each game.
