There were 80 1,000-yard rushers last year with five of those breaking the 2,000-yard mark.  Mesa Desert Ridge running back Taren Morrison led everyone with 2,587 yards on 209 carries. Morrison committed to the University of Arizona last spring but has seen limited time so far this fall.

Judging by some of the top running backs from this fall, it looks like we may come close to repeating some of those high marks again this year.

James Scott (Sr./South Pointe) leads everyone with 247.5 yards per game and an incredible 22.5 yards per gain.  Dionte Flores (Jr./Flowing Wells) is leading Southern Arizona with 191.5 yards per game and 8.9 yards per carry.

Marcus Thomas of Tolleson set the AIA single-season rushing mark in 2002 when he ran for 3,573 yards. Casey Jahn of Phoenix Northwest Christian set the career mark at 7,544 from 2008-11.
