It was a big weekend for students from Phoenix Brophy Prep, both current and former.
Matt McMurry, a current Bronco, turned on the horsepower in Le Mans, France, becoming the youngest competitior and youngest finisher at the age of 16 in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He finished 24th overall.
Also, former Brophy multi-sport star Devon Allen won the 110-meter hurdles in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., home of his University of Oregon.
Allen, a freshman, set a meet record with a time of 13.16 seconds, and was the second-fastest in NCAA history. He is the first freshman to win an NCAA individual title since 1976. Oregon won its first outdoor championship since 1984.
Allen also expects to see a significant amount of playing time as a wide receiver for the Ducks this fall.
