It began 13 days ago when the Valley Christian girls basketball team slammed the door on Scottsdale Christian, 78-66.
It continue this past week when Tempe Prep stunned Valley Christian, 50-48, handing the defending 2A state champion Trojans their first loss after 48 consecutive victories over two seasons. Tempe Prep wasn't able to bask in the glow of victory for long. Scottsdale Christian climbed the top of the hill in this triangular battle of 2A Central teams by toppling Tempe Prep, 45-41, on Friday night.
All three schools reside in the top 10 of the current 2A power rankings with Valley Christian and Scottsdale Christian in the top five at 2 and 4, respectively. It bodes well for a competitive 2A state tournament next month with Pima, Thatcher and Pusch Ridge doing their part for the southern part of the state and also settilng in among the top 5 at 1, 3 and 5, respectively.
