Boys basketball teams, 3-point shooters shine at arena

"=""> Phoenix Moon Valley, Phoenix Cortez, Glendale Apollo, Phoenix Thunderbird and Phoenix Greenway were winners on Saturday (Jan. 8) in the inaugural Hoopin’ It Up at the Arena for boys basketball teams at US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix.
"=""> Moon Valley defeated Glendale 61-54, Cortez defeated Phoenix Washington 76-73, Apollo defeated Glendale Independence 59-54, Thunderbird defeated Phoenix Sunnyslope 67-52 and Greenway defeated Prescott 52-22.
"=""> Winners of the three-point shooting competition were: Eddie Ortiz of Phoenix Paradise Valley (Black Canyon Region boy) and Lillian Southwich of Thunderbird (Black Canyon Region girl), Daniel Trif of Independence (Western Sky Region boy) and Lexi Kresl of Phoenix Shadow Mountain (Western Sky Region girl).
