Defending Class 5A Division II boys champion Anthem Boulder Creek won the consolation championship of the Hobbs (N.M.) holiday tournament with a 98-73 victory over Phoenix Maryvale.

Weston Newell scored 28 points to lead Boulder Creek. Josh Braun had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Ryan Zettle had 10 assists.

Boulder Creek lost its opening game 66-42 to Bishop McGuinness High of Oklahoma City but came back to defeat Lawton, Okla., 72-69 on the second day to set up its meeting with Maryvale.
