Empire (Tucson, Ariz.) senior running back Sean Fitzsimmons is the single-game rushing king in Arizona.
According to the Arizona Daily Star, Fitzsimmons romped for 516 yards on 29 carries in an 82-55 win over Catalina. He also scored six touchdowns.
The senior-night performance broke the record of D.J. Foster of Saguaro (Scottsdale), who ran for 508 yards in a 2011 contest. Foster now plays at Arizona State.
“Without my line, I would have had no holes, made no points and no yards,” Fitzsimmons told the newspaper. “It’s very special on senior night.”
According to the story, the team ran for 840 yards and teammate Chance Hatfield registered 240 yards and four touchdowns.
