Arizona, New Mexico teams in Border Classic

Two boys’ basketball teams and two girls’ teams from Arizona will face opponents from New Mexico on Monday (Dec. 20) and Tuesday (Dec. 22) in the second annual Border Classic/New Mexico-Arizona Border Challenge at Chinle High School.
The event, sponsored this year by the Arizona Interscholastic Association, was played in New Mexico last season.
The boys’ teams from Arizona are Anthem Boulder Creek, the defending Class 5A Division II champion, and Class 3A Winslow. The girls’ teams from Arizona are Class 3A state runner-up Fort Defiance Window Rock and perennial 3A power Kayenta Monument Valley.
Boys’ teams from New Mexico are Espanola Valley and Cleveland and girls’ teams are Lovington and Shiprock.
On Monday, before the start of the tournament, teams will be involved in a community project.
Games will be available on streaming video by visiting AIA365.com. Game times are 2:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
