A handful of Arizona teams journeyed to San Diego last week for the Mount Carmel/Movin'Shoes Invite and there were plenty of good finishes, particularly by individuals.

There were 16 races involving prep teams -- four Division II girls (freshman, sophomore, junior and senior), four D-I girls (freshman, sophomore, junior and senior); four Division II boys (freshman, sophomore, junior and senior) and four Division I boys (freshman, sophomore, junior and senior).  

Ironwood Ridge's boys had the best finish among Arizona schools with a composite score netting it fourth place (91 teams scored). Chaparral's girls posted the best finish for an Arizona school with a composite score good for 14th (77 schools scored).

Ironwood Ridge's Jordan Hellebuyck logged the 25th best time overall at 16 minutes, 4 seconds over a 2.95-mile course. The top boys time was 15:07. Chaparral's Ali Kallner had the 15th best girls time overa  2.75-mile course of 16:20. The top girls time was 15:43.

D-II JUNIOR -- Ali Kallner, Chaparral (1st); Kristin Powell, Ironwood Ridge (3rd); Rachel Thomas, Chaparral (6th); Jelani Huma, Saguaro (10th). D-II SENIOR -- None.  No top finishes among D-I Arizonans in the girls races. BOYS: D-II FROSH -- Morgan Risch, Flowing Wells (4th); Alex Ramirez, Marana Mtn. View (8th). D-II SOPHOMORE -- Tyler Beauchamp, Saguaro (1st); Brett Willman, Ironwood Ridge (5th); Richard DeLara, Greenway (10th). D-II JUNIOR -- Josh Fleetwood, Marana Mtn. View (5th); Sawyer Sprung, Sabino (7th); David Fernandez, Ironwood Ridge (8th); Brandon McKay, Ironwood Ridge (9th).
