A pair of 2-1 teams hoping to make a return trip to the postseason square off Friday night in Scottsdale as Desert Mountain plays host to Chaparral. The Firebirds' loss came two weeks ago on the road to Marcos de Niza, the team that eliminated them from the quarterfinals of the Division II playoffs a year ago. Desert Mountain, who made the round of eight in the 2012 Division I playoffs, has won two straight after dropping their 2013 opener to Brophy Prep. This week's battle could be a high-scoring affair, with Chaparral averaging 46.3 points per game and the Wolves scoring 99 points in their two victories. Game time is set for 7pm at Desert Mountain High School.
