John Bryant has long worked his magic in Arizona’s eight-man football, winning nine state championships.
On Saturday (June 8), the field boss at Joseph City was on the sideline again, this time for the Red team in the Arizona Coaches Association Division VI Senior Bowl at Mogollon High in Heber.
Bryant’s star running back Jacob Fields, scored five touchdowns, and the Red team defense forced several turnovers by the Blue for a 50-6 victory.
Kendall Jeans of Bagdad had a pair of interceptions for the Red.
Ketah Watson of Phoenix Valley Lutheran scored the only touchdown for the Blue on a short run.
In a vote of coaches, Watson was named the Blue’s offensive MVP. Blue defensive MVP honors went to Juan Iglecias of Duncan. And the Blue Coaches Award went to Isaiah Anderson of Fort Thomas for his attitude and hard work before and during the game.
Fields was named the Red offensive MVP. Salome’s Robert Fortenberry was the defensive MVP, and Mogollon’s Lane Bentley earned the Coaches Award.
