Brophy, Xavier head list of team tennis title winners

Phoenix Brophy Prep won its second straight Division I boys tennis team title and fourth in the last five years by defeating Tucson Salpointe Catholic 5-0 on Saturday (May 4) at the Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale.
Phoenix Xavier Prep captured its second straight girls crown 5-0 over Scottsdale Chaparral.
Both Brophy and Xavier also had won singles and doubles titles in late April.
Christian Franco’s victory in his match put Brophy over the top.
A victory by Anne-Marie Collins clinched the title for Xavier.
Tucson-area schools dominated play in Division II.
Ironwood Ridge grabbed the boys’ team title for the second straight year, and Catalina Foothills won its 12th crown in the last 14 years.
The doubles team of Alex Bose and Ryan Knox gave Ironwood Ridge the win over previously unbeaten Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep.
The girls team championship match was as close as the boys. Sisters Rachana and Kirtana Bhat earned the title over Ironwood Ridge with their doubles victory.
In Division III team play, Tucson Pusch Ridge Christian won the boys crown and Miami took the girls title.
Camron Vick and Davis Towne won their doubles match to clinch the title for Pusch Ridge against Fountain Hills.
The doubles team of Celine Mavin and Ashley Madrid stepped up for Miami’s clincher against Phoenix Country Day School.
