Many of the top softball teams in Division I and Division II comprise a huge chunk of the 28-team field at the 16th annual Desert Mountain Softball Invitational opening on Tuesday (March 19) at Horizon Park in Scottsdale.

Last year's final four in D-I (three-time defending champ Red Mountain, Basha, Mountain Ridge and Horizon) are entered as are three of the D-II's final four from a year ago (defending champ Canyon del Oro, Ironwood Ridge and Sabino. All told, 17 of the 28 teams entered qualified for their respective state tournaments last year. The defending tournament champion is Mesa Mountain View.

Here is the field for the tournament and schedule for pool play (March 19 through 22).
