Arizona high school football passing and receiving records might be broken Friday

An Arizona record will be on the line — and likely fall — on Friday when Bryce Kinsler closes out his career at Cactus Shadows (Cave Creek, Ariz.). The senior quarterback is just 22 yards short of breaking the career passing yardage standard of 8,517 set two years ago.

This season Kinsler has passed for 2,272 yards, an average of 252.4 per game, and 16 touchdowns.

In another part of the state, senior receiver Lukas Treffers has a shot — albeit a long one — at breaking the Arizona state record for most catches in a season when he closes his St. Mary's (Phoenix) career on Friday.

Treffers set a single-season Division I state record of 87 catches following last week's game, but he will need 25 catches this week to break the overall record, according to Richard Obert of the Arizona Republic. The Division I record of 84 catches had stood since 1996. Obert noted that Treffers needs 25 catches on Friday to surpass the current overall state record of 112 set two years ago.

In nine games this year, the St. Mary's star has 1,019 yards and 14 touchdown catches.

Take a look at Kinsler's passing and play-making ability in the video below.
