The Millennium Tigers look to build off their fifth consecutive winning season as they take on the Betty Fairfax Stampede Friday night in a Division II, Section I showdown in Goodyear. It marks the fourth straight year the teams open up against each other.
Millennium finished 6-and-4 a season ago under third-year head coach George Martinez, his second straight winning season and the school’s fifth overall. The Tigers, ranked 20th in Division II, averaged 36.9 points per game last season while giving up 21.8 points a contest.
Fairfax, meanwhile, is entering its fourth season under head coach Kevin Belcher. The Stampede are 21-and-10 in their first three years of varsity football, including a 7-and-3 mark in 2011. Fairfax, ranked 21st in the division, averaged 35.2 points per game last year while allowing just 19.5 points a contest.
Millennium has won each of the three all-time meetings with Fairfax, including a 32-18 victory in Laveen last year. Kickoff Friday night is at 7pm.
