Sibling duos have surrounded the Arcadia swim team and are continually helping this team in many ways.

One set of sibling duos has been at the forefront of the Titans swim team when it comes to culture and results and that is senior Aidan McClure and sophomore Zoe McClure who are both swimmers for the Titans. They along with the other sibling pairings for the Titans swim team represent what swimming is all about and it comes from their roots.

The McClure’s have been swimming for 14 years which has been most of their entire life at the current moment. The experience that goes into swimming for that long has helped each of them shine on the Titans swim team as both siblings are top swimmers in points for their team according to swimcloud.com.

Aidan McClure has the third most points with 411.94 points while Zoe McClure is first with 454.30 points. These swimmers help lead by example and show everybody that they got to be accountable but also show that this team is like a family.

“It holds everybody accountable in a sense,” said head coach Ana Kilibarda. “It helps see what potential a kid can reach which is nice to see.”

Before the McClure’s started swimming for high school, they started their swimming journey by swimming for clubs. They started swimming in California where they swam at a club known as Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics.

This is where both of them started to learn how to swim and the basics of it which has helped them become the swimmers that they are today.

“It was just helpful learning the basics and then just building off them these last 14 years,” said Aidan McClure.

These basics helped both swimmers in their journey from San Alto Stanford Aquatics to both the Phoenix Swim Club and for the Titans. Their roots have helped them grow as swimmers today and were able to build off what they learned and have a real identity.

Zoe McClure beat a couple personal bests in a couple events in the 35th Annual Brophy/Xavier Swim Invitational including the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly getting a two minute and 9.05 seconds for the freestyle event and a one minute and 4.57 seconds for the butterfly event.

Aidan McClure beat a couple of personal bests in the same invitational meet as his sister including the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-individual medley getting a five minute and 14.76 seconds on the freestyle race and getting a two minute and 13.76 seconds on the medley race.

Both Aidan and Zoe McClure love to swim more endurance events and they love to swim butterfly and freestyle which is reflected on the events that they swim for the Titans and their times. Club and highschool swimming has really helped them hone in their technique and skill while also enjoying swimming with each other.

They seem to rounding into shape as the state meet is less just over a week away.

“It has really helped my technique and getting faster,” said Zoe McClure. “We started about the same time so I have always been swimming with him and I really like swimming with him.”
