Mountain View overpowered Westwood, 50-6, in a game that was one-sided from the start on Friday. The Toros capitalized on major plays, including five out of seven fourth-down conversions.

This was Mountain View's second 6A conference Fiesta regional game, whereas it was Westwood's first against the region's No. 1-ranked team. Both teams entered this meeting on 4-1 records.

The Toros' junior slotback Zachary Galaviz set the tone with a big punt return after a fast three-and-out from Westwood, which gave their offense prime field position to score. Junior quarterback Brady Goodman (150 passing yards) delivered the first of his six touchdown passes to Galaviz on a huge fourth-down play to move up 7-0.

The Warriors quickly went three-and-out on its next possession again. The Toros took advantage of a short punt and worked with great field postion. After another fourth-down conversion, Goodman found Galaviz again for a second TD.

"Felt good to start the game off hot, get the offense rolling, get the other receivers open, give them a shot to get the ball, too. It felt good," said Galaviz.

A successful trick play by junior wide receiver Talon Arnett completed a two-point conversion to put Mountain View up 15-0.

"We were playing that throughout the week, so it was good to capitlize on that," Arnett said postgame.

Mountain View’s defense then held strong, stopping Westwood’s fourth-and-1 attempt at the 30-yard line. Goodman ended the quarter with a QB read-option TD, which extended the lead to 22-0.

Early in the second quarter, Mountain View converted its third consecutive fourth down as Goodman connected with senior WR Mikey Sumko for a TD, and pushed it to 29-0.

Mountain View’s offense finally faltered, punting for the first time, but their defense held firm, maintaining the Warriors to zero on the scoreboard.

Shortly before halftime, senior running back Reese Bodily found an open gap for a 32-yard run to put them in a scoring position again. Goodman connected with Arnett for his fifth TD throw.

The Toros opened the second half with a 65-yard run by Bodily, followed by a 15-yard face mask penalty, moving the ball to Westwood’s 21. Goodman connected with Arnett again on another fourth down, which upped the score to 43-0.

"I was connecting with receivers, O-line was blocking good, we were able to capitilize on those drives and it felt good," said Goodman.

Mountain View head coach Andy Litten had high praise for Goodman, who's totaled 21 TDs and 1292 passing yards.

"Brady has been of my favroite kids I ever coached...so he makes me look really smart," Litten stated.

Westwood’s offense continued to not get any offensive ground going as they were held scoreless through three quarters of play as the second team for Mountain View is in for the rest of the game

The final quarter started as senior backup Brody Snyder did a QB sneak, which increased the score 50-0.

Westwood prevented the shutout by finally scoring late in the game from junior QB Elliot Reed's five-yard TD pass to Nicholas Montano, and the extra point attempt was unsuccesful.

Mountain View and Westwood are entering their bye weeks. Mountain View's next game will be against their other crosstown rival Mesa (3-3, 1-0) for their homecoming game on Oct. 18th at 7 p.m.
