Golf and Fall Soccer start the year off on Monday

The 2024-2025 High School season starts on Monday, Aug. 19 when Girls Golf tees off across the state at 3 p.m. Fall Soccer starts on Monday at 6 p.m. with Sedona Red Rock hosting Winslow and then Boys Golf tees off on Tuesday.

The Brophy Rodeo is slated for Friday, Aug. 23 with girls from Pinnacle, Casteel, Xavier Prep, Hamilton, Horizon and Cactus Shadows joining teams from California, Utah, Nevada, Texas and Florida at the Grayhawk Golf Club (Raptor Course) and boys from Brophy, Notre Dame Prep, Hamilton and Catalina Foothills joining teams from Utah, Illinois, Florida, Texas and Colorado.

The Arizona High School Fall Preview will feature boys from Prescott, Boulder Creek, Mesa Mountain View, Seton Catholic, Pinnacle, Casteel, Red Mountain, Corona del Sol, Chaparral, Williams Field, Desert Ridge, Highland, Saguaro, Arcadia, Higley, Mica Mountain, Catalina Foothills, Gilbert, ALA - Gilbert North, Horizon, Desert Vista, Cactus and Desert Mountain at the GCU Golf Course from Aug. 23-24.

2023-24 D-I/D-II GOLF CHAMPIONS

 

D-I BOYS: Hamilton (Adam Croix, Liberty)

The top nine and the top 12 of 15 D-I finishers from last fall all graduated so this division is wide open.

 

D-I GIRLS: Xavier Prep (Angela Chen, Hamilton)

Angela Chen returns for her senior year as do the top four of five finishers.

 

D-II BOYS: Ironwood Ridge (Landon Ashcraft, Notre Dame)

Landon Ashcraft returns for his junior year and only five of the top ten returners graduated.

 

D-II GIRLS: Castell (Raegen Capizzi, Chaparral)

Raegen Capizzi (University of Denver) graduated and she is part three of the top 15 who graduated. This division is also up for grabs.

 

FALL SOCCER

Payson is hosting the Longhorn Invitational from Aug. 22-24 featuring boys from Willcox, Round Valley, Snowflake, Pima, Gregory School, Holbrook, Show Low, Ash Fork, Sedona Red Rock, Payson, Highland Prep West, Northland Prep, Benson, Blue Ridge and Winslow and girls from Camp Verde, Round Valley, Snowflake, Show Low, Payson, Blue Ridge, Winslow.

Snowflake beat Chino Valley 4-3 to win the Fall Championship last year.
