PRESCOTT — Uriah Tenette set a new school record with 47 points scored in a 75-63 victory Dec. 13 over Tempe to end the first half of the season for the Prescott boys basketball team.

“He’s always been a winner. From the first day I met him,” Prescott head coach Travis Stedman told AzPreps365.com via text, adding that the junior’s endless desire for winning is impressive.

“Since his first day in summer camp freshman year, he has been a winner. His pick-up teams always win. His small groups always win in practice,” Stedman said. “He’s a competitor that plays the game with such joy, but has the IQ of someone three-times his age. His contribution to our program and community has been very profound.”

So far in 2023-24, Tenette is averaging 33 points per game.

Against Mountain Ridge on Dec. 1, the Prescott Athletic Department awarded Tenette a custom game ball to honor his 1,000th point, a feat he achieved in a first-round 4A state playoff victory against Salpointe Catholic last season.

He is one of only two recorded Prescott athletes to reach 1,000 career points.

Tenette’s accolades have only begun. The junior was named a 4A All-State performer after averaging 23.3 points per game as a sophomore.

He was also nominated as Grand Canyon region Offensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year in 2022-23.
