The Chandler Prep Titians brought out the broom Monday night against the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves in a 3-0 sweep at Chandler Prep.

Chandler Prep put on a dominant performance despite the absence of head coach Anthony Jones. Jones wasn’t there due to personal reasons. That didn’t stop the Titans from winning the first three sets with final scores of 25-11, 25-5, and 25-17.

Assistant coach Courtney Oglesby took over duties as head coach. Oglesby was pleased all around with the performance of her players.

“I think we did really well,” Oglesby said. “We kinda struggled there in a couple of moments but we were able to pull it back out. Our serving game was amazing today and that’s really something we’ve been working on.”

Even without Jones, Chandler Prep didn't miss a beat.

In the beginning, the Wolves kept it close with Chandler Prep during the first set with the score being 12-10 Chandler Prep. After that moment, the Titans opened their lead and started dominating. The Titans put the ball in play which made it difficult for St. Augustine Catholic to react.

All night Chandler Prep looked like the better team. The dominance spilled over into the next two sets. The defense for the Titans matched how well the offense was playing. It didn't matter where St. Augustine Catholic would put the ball in play. There was always a Chandler Prep player there ready to set the ball to a teammate.

“That is one of the best times we have done as a team we cleaned everything up,” Chandler Prep captain Juliet Mason said. “It was a really clean three-hits and I think we’ve struggled with that a little bit, but we did a really good job of working with each other.”

You could clearly see that the Chandler Prep players were jelling together. The Titans see this as a big win that creates momentum as they get deeper into their schedule. With the win, the Titans improved to 2-0 in the 2A South region.

“We talked about before the game we just wanted to have a lot of energy and play our game even though (Jones) wasn’t here,” Chandler Prep captain Abbie Unrah said.

The Titans will go on the road Wednesday to play Sequoia Pathway Academy Pumas from Maricopa.
