EAGER — The Round Valley boys basketball team capped a perfect season in region play with a 52-31 win over Pinon in the 2A North Region Basketball Tournament on Saturday night.

The Elks (19-7, 14-0 2A North) were 12-0 during regular season play against region opponents and continued their dominance this past week at the North tournament, earning a No. 1 seed and defeating Hopi 60-22 in the semifinals Feb. 3 before the 21-point win against the Eagles in the finals Saturday.

Round Valley, which sits at No. 16 in the power point rankings and has won 10 straight games, will need a victory in the 2A conference state play-in round next week to make the state tournament.

The No. 16-17 game in round one is set to take place Friday, Feb. 10. The 2A state play-in bracket will likely be released by Tuesday, Feb. 7. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
