Sammi Dupuy attends Gilbert Christian High School and is a member of the AIA's student SID program.

Allison Shue is a sophomore on the Gilbert Christian Spiritline team. She chose to try out for cheer at the beginning of her freshman year and hasn’t looked back. She loves being in a good environment of a team filled with love from the spiritleaders, strong team communication, team forgiveness, lots of laughs, and openness.  On her own, she did cheer and gymnastics at USA gym, throughout middle school, so she was able to bring a lot of positive experience of her own to serve the team and further grow as a teammate.

Her ultimate goal for this year is to finish strong with a good competition season. Competition seasons can get pretty “nerve racking,” according to Alli. She says, “The best part about competing is probably the feeling of relief when we ‘hit’ a routine and all the hard work pays off.” ‘Hitting a routine,’ in cheer slang, is when the whole team gets through the whole routine without messing up or having a stunt fail by falling apart, which is pretty satisfying to do. Nobody is perfect, though, and everybody makes mistakes. Alli says when she makes mistakes she takes in corrections and works to fix it for the next time.

Alli says that friends in spiritline make her the happiest. It keeps her going because they love to laugh, although, admittedly,  maybe a little too much during practice. There are two team captains in cheer, Kathryn Murphy and Lizzie Biek  and Alli says that the best qualities in a teammate that makes them a good captain is a hard-working and dedicated person as she has seen evidenced in these two captains.

On a personal note, Alli is also a big country music fan. Her favorite song would be any song from Morgan Wallen or Cody Johnson but she also enjoys a song she recently discovered called Where I Find God by Larry Fleet. It helps to motivate her to always try her best in everything she takes on.

Alli credits personal challenges in helping her get to where she is today with her strong and growing faith and determination. The most important things to Alli are her friends and family. She looks up to her parents and is never afraid to talk to them whenever she needs to.

Her favorite part about stunting is flying because it makes her feel confident. When she hits a new stunt she feels accomplished. If she wasn’t a flier she would want to be a backspot because they support the whole stunt and don't let the flier fall.

In school, she says her favorite class is ASL because it is fun and interactive. If she wasn’t in cheerleading she would most likely want to be in volleyball or tennis.
