Arcadia has been on a roll since Saturday when it swept six opponents to win the Ceil Billings Greenway High School tournament in Phoenix.

The Titans added to that streak by dominating American Leadership Academy Queen Creek in a three-set sweep at home on Tuesday. 

Scores were 25-12, 25-18, 25-15, improving their overall record to 4-1 and 2-1 in the 4A conference. 

The Patriots didn't match Arcadia's vibrant energy in warmups, which would later translate to the contest's final outcome.

In the first set, Arcadia showed their strength and skill by going on an 11-3 run, forcing a Patriots timeout. Following the short break, middle hitter Ryan Sheedy led the Titans' momentum with her powerful service, which extended Arcadia's lead to 19-8 lead, and forced another ALA QC timeout to halt the run.

While the entire Titan roster equally contributed in the first set's landslide win, outside and middle hitter Zoe Leonard and setter Tatum Longnecker solidified their tandem's dominance over the Patriots throughout the match as they combined for 17 kills. 

"I feel like the setter-hitter connection is a lot in volleyball, and I feel like me and Zoe have a really, really good one," Longnecker said.

The second set began with the Patriots and Titans going point for point with the score tied 15-15, until Arcadia’s Andrea Firman served two winning points, which caused the momentum shift in the Titan’s favor once more.

Longnecker’s five winning serves at the beginning of the match was advantageous, but the Titans' impressive blocks, serves, and hits ultimately clinched the victory in the third set..

“Today's match was really good. We played as a team and that's something we've been working on a lot," Leonard said. "We've also been working on our blocking a lot and I feel like that's gotten a lot better. We've really progressed as a team as a whole and playing together."

Reflecting on the rest of the season, Longnecker expressed that her team has a strong chance to win the state championship. Head coach Jackie Bunker found that sticking together will help increase those odds.

“We need to stay together. The only way that any team really does it, is if they do it as a team," Bunker said. "So make sure that we're not being selfish, and that we are finding ways to be good to each other …

"Just staying as a team and bringing the best out of each other is really going to make the big difference for us."

As the team heads into their Thursday match at ALA Gilbert, Bunker expressed they are planning to continue getting better at their defense blocking, and reads to obtain the successful results they are striving for.
