Basha boys basketball coach Brad Pinter has resigned after five seasons as coach of the Bears, athletic director Brent Rincon said Thursday.

Rincon said a meeting was held a week ago with school administration to discuss the recently-completed season with Pinter. They met again late Thursday morning and Pinter submitted his resignation.

"It was a short meeting and not much discussion," Rincon said. "He said he was resigning."

Basha posted a 22-7 record this season and were 95-49 in Pinter's five seasons. Basha was eliminated in the second round of state this year and knocked out in the first round the year before. Basha's best year in terms of state finish was a semifinal appearance in 2007-2008. They also reached the quarterfinals in 2009-2010.

Basha has posted the position and will begin a search shortly for Pinter's successor. Pinter could not be reached for comment.
