Christopher Owen attends Canyon View High School and is a member of the AIA's Student SID program. 

The Canyon View's girl varsity basketball team beat the Agua Fria Owls by a score of 57-13 at Canyon View Arena. 

"Our performance, body language and energy were at an all-time high. We kept our composure and it was a pretty good game,” senior Angelina Thiel said. 

Junior Ella Seymour started the game by hitting a three-point basket and the Lady Jags never looked back. Senior Caidyn Spickler went on to make several three-pointers during the quarter, and then shot a layup which increased the Jaguar lead 17-0. Thiel hit a putback which ended the first quarter with the Jags in front by a score of 25-2. 

Theil started the Jags off in the second quarter with two baskets and followed up with two free throws, which increased the lead to 31-4. Senior Madison Jacobs shot a basket which furthered the Jaguar lead to 33-6. Spickler made a layup, follwed by a three-point basket, which ended the first half with Canyon View in front 38-6. 

Spickler started the second half with a layup and assisted senior Taylor Jacobs on a layup to put the Jags in front 42-6. Sister Avery Spickler ended the third quarter with a three-point shot and two free throws to pace Canyon View. 

Freshman reserve Katelyn Jewell made the last basket of the game in which a number of different players scored for the Jags.

"The performance was really good, they came together and stayed together, and they all made an impact in some way," head coach Desirae Carranza said after the game.

Canyon View returns to action this Friday in a big matchup with district rival Millenium. The Tigers won the first meeting by a score of 56-32.
