Canyon View takes care of Campo Verde

The Canyon View varsity girls basketball team beat Campo Verde on their home floor by a score of 52-40.
Senior Taylor Jacobs made two layups to start the Jaguars off, closing the gap 9-4. Sophomore Madison Reibel followed with a layup which made the score 9-7 in favor of the Coyotes. To end the first quarter, senior Angelina Thiel made three out four free throws to make the score 14-10 with Campo Verde in the lead.
Jacobs started the second quarter by hitting two free throws, but the Jaguars still trailed 17-12. Sophomore Mia Burgees, scored two points to pull within five and Reibel followed with two layups to make the score 23-20.
Senior guard Caidyn Spickler, made two free throws and followed with a layup which pull within one. The Jags took the lead when junior guard Ella Seymour made a layup to put Canyon View in front. Junior Avery Spickler ended the third quarter with a three point shot that extended the Jags lead to 39-35.
Caidyn Spickler started the final quarter with two free throws which made the score 41-35, and Seymour followed with a layup to extend the Jaguar lead. Later in the quarter, Thiel made a layup that put Canyon View up ten. The Spickler sisters combined for the final scores of the game, Avery with two free throws and Caidyn with a layup to help seal the win.
The Lady Jaguars look forward to playing against district rival Millenium at Canyon View Arena on Thursday, January 6.
