Senior Addisyn Mayfield is a Defensive Specialist/Libero, which means she concentrates on being strong in defense during a game, on the Gilbert Christian High School Varsity Volleyball team. Mayfield has been playing volleyball for seven years, and as her senior season comes to a close, she offers reflections on playing this sport.
“My favorite volleyball memory of all time has to be starting in my first high school varsity game my freshman year and getting my first dig in front of my friends and family!” Mayfield says. She has worked hard to become an exceptional player, and she thought she would share this tip.
“I think a tenacious grit and a true love for the sport makes the best player because without those two qualities a team can’t win and each player won’t play to their best ability for their teammates. It all comes down to who wants it more in a game, and if one team has a tenacious attitude and loves the sport more than the other team, they will come out with a win.”
These qualities have helped Mayfield assist her team in many victories this season, including beating their #1 rival, Valley Christian, earlier this season, one of Addisyn’s favorite memories!
On behalf of the 2021-2022 varsity volleyball team, Mayfield is excited to announce that their team will be going to the playoffs this season. The playoff games will be held at Marcos De Niza High School in Tempe, Arizona on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
