Gilbert Christian Basketball is made up of leadership, ambition, and persistence. These boys don't give up. Coach Kurt Keener makes a theme of the season every year. This year it is "Climb The Mountain" with the verse Isaiah 2:3, And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of eZion shall go forth the flaw, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Senior captain Ayden Hoyt says, “The top of the mountain is the goal of the season, which is state, and climbing it is going through the struggles and adversity which builds perseverance." In the beginning of the season, COVID-19 really set this team back. Ayden Hoyt says, “We were set back in the beginning of the season, but you can really see us hiking this mountain." 

The chemistry this team has built over these first couple of weeks has been a big part of their successes. Everyone on the team looks like they are happy to be a part of this team. They fight for each other and are not selfish at all. Senior captain Karsten Gargan says, "We got some swag now." Gilbert Christian Men's basketball is now 10-4 with some tough games coming up. Caden Heyn, a junior on the team, says, “Don't count us out, we are climbing the mountain."
