Nackard Holiday Girls Tournament; Choice Wireless Classic results

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs completed Thursday's Pool Play during the 2019 Nackard Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament at Flagstaff High School with an undefeated 2-0 record.
The eight-team field continues today in Pool Play. The teams will be seeded into the tournament bracket at conclusion of today's two games. Tournament bracket play is scheduled for Saturday.

WINSLOW 66, GREYHILLS ACADEMY 22
Winslow raced out to a 22-2 first quarter lead over Greyhills Academy. The Lady Bulldogs outscored Greyhills Academy, 28-3, for a 40-5 halftime advantage.
Winslow netted 21 points to Greyhills Academy's 11 points for a 61-16 lead after three quarters. During the fourth quarter, Greyhills Academy netted six points to Winslow's five points.
Winslow sophomore standout Kylie Begay rattled the cages for 23 points. Andrea Willeto added 11 points and Jordyn Johnson tallied 10 points for Winslow.
"My team had a good all around team effort," said Winslow head coach Jerron Jordan.
Jasmine Grisham was the lone Greyhills Academy player scoring in double digits with 11 points.
WINSLOW 69, POSTON BUTTE 33
Winslow turned in a solid first quarter with 24 points to post a 69-33 victory over Poston Butte.
Poston Butte hit for nine points in the first quarter and six points in the second quarter. Winslow canned 19 points in the second stanza, while Poston Butte netted nine points. Winslow held a 43-15 halftime lead.
Winslow outpointed Poston Butte, 21-11, for a 57-24 lead at the end of the third period. Winslow scored 12 points and Poston Butte tallied nine points during the fourth quarter.
Andrea Willeto knocked down 17 points to lead Winslow. Kylie Begay adde 16 points, followed by Jordyn Johnson and Brianna Little with 10 points.
"My team had a great defensive effort," said Jordan.
Winslow improved to 3-1 overall on the young season. Winslow faces Green Valley, of Henderson, Nevada at 5:30 p.m. today in Pool Play.
Pool play continues throughout today. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at Flagstaff High School.
TUBA CITY 57, ARIZONA LUTHERAN 27
Tuba City held an 18-3 first quarter lead, to take a 57-27 victory over Arizona Lutheran in the Nackard Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament in Flagstaff.
The Lady Warriors outscored Arizona Lutheran, 20-10, for a 38-13 halftime lead.
Tuba City netted 11 points to Arizona Lutheran's five points for a 49-18 advantage at the end of the third quarter. Arizona Lutheran tallied nine points to Tuba City's 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Rainbow Willie led Tuba City with 11 points. Larissa Yazzie added eight points, Kailer Reid and Gracee Curley both scored seven points apiece.
"All (players) contributed to the win," said Tuba City head coach Kimberly Williams. "Multiple players with assists and rebounds. The team was even in many categories. When you get 10 players scoring with five or more points, that's always helpful. It's showing unselfish play."
Tuba City faces Tolleson at 2:30 p.m. today. In it's second game today, Tuba City takes on Flagstaff at 7 p.m. today.
Pool play cntinues throughout today. The championsip is scheduled for Saturday at Flagstaff High School.

CHINLE 72, GANADO 29
Chinle took a 19-9 first quarter lead and held off Ganado for remainder of the game for a 72-29 victory in the first round of the Choice Wireless Classic in the Wildcat Den in Chinle on Thursday night.
The Wildcats outscored the Hornets, 16-6, for a 35-15 halftime advantage.
Chinle held a 61-23 lead at the end of the third period. The Wildcats canned nine points to Ganado's six points in the fourth quarter.
Chinle senior standout Cooper Burbank knocked down 19 points to lead all scorers. Colin Yazzie added 10 points and Malik Bahe tallied nine points for Chinle.
Lane Uentillie led Ganado offensively with 10 points.
