The Canyon View robotics participated in an FTC Qualifying Tournament in Tuscon on December 6-7 and team FTC #14624 Cat-astrophic Byte earned a spot in the state championships. FTC, First Tech Challenge, is a competition where each robotics team is responsible for designing, building and programming their robot in an alliance format against their opponent.
"I was so glad we qualified for state," sophomore Rob Swerczek said. "Each competition is unique and seeing all the different teams come together and compete is amazing."
The team won third place for the Connect Award, placed second for the Inspire Award, and they took home first place in the Think Award.
"Robotics is the hardest, most fun you can have and FTC is simply the best entry point for my age," sophomore Jordan Kurtz said.
