Cardiac tuneup puts me on the road to recovery

Hey, it’s great to see you!
And it’s great to be seen, believe me.
Four weeks ago, on Oct. 11, I wasn’t sure what the future would hold for me, or if I would even have a future.
I had triple-bypass, open-heart surgery. I guess all those years of being a sports journalist, with deadlines, strange schedules and poor food choices, caught up with me.
The surgery kicked my tail and then some. I was in the intensive care unit for 3-4 days, in a regular room for 3-4 days and a rehab facility for about 2 weeks. I was cleared to come home last week.
Though I still have a few residual effects, I believe I am ready to get back on my Arizona Interscholastic Association bicycle. Hopefully I won’t fall off. I enjoy attending these great, exciting prep sports events. You never know what is going to happen.
I appreciate all those who read the stories I write, and those of colleague Les Willsey, on AIA365.com. I’m thankful to be sitting here at the keyboard again.
So I guess I’ll see you around.
