The 2011 Arizona high school football playoffs continue on Saturday (Nov. 12) with quarterfinal games in divisions IV and V.

In Division IV, there are two games each at Phoenix Paradise Valley and Phoenix North Canyon highs.

No. 12 seed Parker (7-4) opens play in the PV portion of the schedule by taking on No. 4 Chandler Seton Catholic (11-0) at 3 p.m. That game will be followed by No. 8 Buckeye (9-2) and No. 1 Lakeside Blue Ridge (11-0) at 7.

At North Canyon, No. 11 Tucson Empire (8-3) will meet No. 3 Show Low (9-3), last year’s champion in the old Class 3A, at 3 p.m. Next up will be No. 7 Florence (9-2) and No. 2 Snowflake (10-1). Snowflake’s only loss was to Blue Ridge, 24-7, on Sept. 9.

In Division V, there are two games each at Gilbert Williams Field and Gilbert Higley highs.

No. 5 seed Camp Verde (9-2) will kick things off at Williams Field with a 3 p.m. game against No. 4 St. Johns (8-3) a perennial power in the old Class 2A. No. 9 Tempe Prep (7-4) will have upset on its mind when it faces Phoenix Northwest Christian (11-0), which won the 2A crown last season. Northwest Christian features Casey Jahn, the state’s career rushing leader.

At Higley, No. 14 San Tan Foothills (7-4) faces a rejuvenated No. 11 Morenci team (8-3) at 3 p.m. The 7 p.m. game will feature No. 10 Round Valley (6-5) against No. 2 Yuma Catholic (10-1). Yuma Catholic’s only loss came to Northwest Christian, 13-6, in the season opener on Aug. 27. It was a rematch of last season’s 2A title game won by Northwest Christian, 30-27.
