Hamilton stamped a ticket to Open Division last week. Can #5 Huskies move up again facing unbeaten #1 Chandler on Friday? (Azpreps365 photo)

I'm playing the game like everyone else as to who fills the eight spots in for the inaugural Open Divsion championship. From my vantage point, no better than yours, I'll say seven spots are locks and one still up for grabs.

Here's the key movement from last week. Four teams moved up -- Chaparral four spots (15 to 11), Saguaro (5 to 3) and Hamilton (7 to 5). Williams Field hopped at least five spots from unknown to No. 12.

The top-8 Open Division teams as of Tuesday Oct. 29 followed by teams 9-16:

Top-8 -- #1 Chandler, #2 Salpointe. #3 Saguaro. #4 Centennial. #5 Hamilton. #6 Pinnacle. #7 Horizon. #8 Higley. 9-16 -- #9 Notre Dame Prep. #10 Red Mountain. #11 Chaparral. #12 Williams Field. #13 Canyon del Oro. #14 Millennium. #15 Brophy Prep. #16 Campo Verde.

Analysis (guessing included):

Locks - Chandler, Salpointe, Saguaro, Centennial, Hamilton, Pinnacle, Horizon. Still contending - Higley, Notre Dame, Red Mountain, Chaparral, Williams Field.

Expecting victories  from six of the seven locks (Chandler-Hamilton face one another so one loses). Friday's key game is Williams Field at Higley. My contention from the outset is three losses is a deal breaker. The Higley-Williams Field loser will have three losses. Higley wins, they are in. Williams Field wins can they leapfrog four spots?  Possible, not probable but a chance. Expecting Notre Dame Prep, Red Mountain and Chaparral to win which keeps them marginally in the running. Chaparral has the toughest game facing Liberty in its finale.

How last week's results affected the top-ranked teams rating in Open Division:

Chandler beat Tucson (3-6) and lost 1.2 points in its rating (26.1 to 24.9). Salpointe beat Catalina Foothills (3-6) and lost .01 (22.88 to 22.87). Saguaro beat Seton Catholic (5-4) and gained 1.5 points (20.6 to 21.1). Centennial beat Raymond Kellis (1-8) and lost .1.0 point (22.0 to 21.0); Hamilton beat Perry (5-4) and gained 2.4 points (17.2 to 19.6); Pinnacle lost to Chaparral (7-2) and lost 2.2 points (21.1 to 18.9); Horizon beat Paradise Valley (5-4) and gained..30 (18.0 to 18.3); Higley beat Gilbert (3-6) and gained .40 (16.9 to 17.3). Notre Dame Prep had a bye and gained .30 (16.0 to 16.3); Red Mountain beat Mesa (5-4) and gained zero (16.3 to 16.3); Chaparral beat Pinnacle (7-2) and gained 2.4 points (13.8 to 16.2). Williams
Field
