Football: Window Rock, Alchesay earn region victories

The Window Rock Scouts and Alchesay Falcons earned region football victories.
WINDOW ROCK 50, CHINLE 6
Window Rock posted a 50-6 homecoming victory over 3A North Region foe, Chinle, on freezing night of football.
Window Rock evened its overall record to 4-4, more importantly 1-2 in 3A North Region play. The Scouts will be on the road at Tuba City (1-7 overall, 0-3 region) to face the Warriors this Friday in a 7 p.m. ball game.
Chinle (2-6 overall, 0-3 region) will be on the road at Page (2-6 overall, 2-1 region) this Friday at 7 p.m.
Chinle's Darren Woody ran the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The touchdown was nullified, due to a penalty.
Window Rock moved the ball effectively. Window Rock running back Brendan Briscoe sampered 16 yards for a touchdown with 9:06 remaining in the first quarter. Adrian Destea completed the two-point PAT for an 8-0 lead.
With one second remaining in the first quarter, Scouts' quarterback Joey Begay connected with Jason Yazzie on an 89 yard scoring strike. Destea tacked on the two-point PAT for a 16-0 advantage.
Window Rock added another touchdown with 36 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Signal-caller Begay rushed for a 4 yard touchdown. Begay hooked up with Marion Ynzunza for the two-point PAT for a 24-0 lead.
Utilizing his speed and quickness, Window Rock's Naataah Chief bolted into the end zone on a 6 yard touchdown with 6:26 in the third quarter. The Scouts completed the two-point PAT for a 32-0 lead.
Briscoe tallied his second touchdown of the night, entering the end zone from 12 yards with 3:48 remaining in the third quarter. The PAT failed. Window Rock took a 38-0 lead.
Chinle scored its lone touchdown of the game, when quarterback Darren Woody threw a 5 yard touchdown pass to Darrell Brown. The PAT failed.
Window Rock scored its final two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Window Rock head coach Wilbur Begay said his players did a good job.
"Our offense and defense stepped up tonight, playing a solid game," Begay said. "Adrian Destea played an outstanding game. The guys worked hard, playing an outstanding game defensively. We have two region games remaining in the regular season. They will be tough games."
ALCHESAY 62, GREYHILLS ACADEMY 6
Alchesay junior running back Davin Parker rushed for 219 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns to help pace the Falcons to a 62-6 win over the Greyhills Academy Knights in Little Colorado 2A region football action.
Falcons' senior Elisha Walker completed one pass for 21 yards and one touchdown. Walker scored a 50 yard touchdown run.
Alchesay Eli Thompson scored a pair of touchdowns. Preston Ortega entered the end zone once for a score. Hunter Ksawy hauled in a pass for a touchdown.
Alchesay (6-2 overall, 5-0 region) host Hopi (5-3 overall, 4-1 region) this Friday at 7 p.m.
Greyhills Academy (0-7 overall, 0-5 region) travel to Pinon (1-6 overall, 1-4 region) this Friday at 7 p.m.
