On Thursday night at North Canyon High School, the Rattlers' girls volleyball team collected its first win of the year against a struggling McClintock (1-6) team.
North Canyon coach Kinsey Pease said the win was “long overdue."
"It feels amazing. I was really happy with how it went and I think that we were the better team today,” Pease said.
In the beginning of the match, however, it seemed as if the Rattlers' five-match losing streak was going to continue. McClintock was able to get off to a quick start, scoring the first three points of the match, but after that North Canyon took control over for the rest of the first and second sets.
The Rattlers were carried by junior outside hitter Hannah Lowe. Near the end of the first set she recorded back-to-back aces, followed by a nice dig, then one play later a kill to finish off the set.
“I’m so happy that she really showed up today," Pease said. "She really is our go-to outside.”
After losing the first two sets, 17-25 and 13-25, the Chargers played much better in the third set before losing, 23-25.
North Canyon (1-5) will host Cactus Shadows on Tuesday.
McClintock will host Horizon (5-1) on Tuesday.
