Preview-Mesquite @ Corona del Sol
October 20, 2011 by Game Previews, AZPreps365
With the postseason quickly approaching, both these teams are teetering right on the edge of the playoffs. It should be a competitive matchup between the Mesquite Wildcats, just outside the playoffs at No. 17 in the power ratings, and the Corona del Sol Aztecs, just in the playoffs at No. 16 in the ratings. Mesquite comes into the game at (3-5) overall. They are right on the cusp of the playoffs in Division I. Winning their final two games would certainly improve their chances of making it in the field. Corona del Sol is (4-4) overall. After winning only one game a year ago, Tom Joseph came in as head coach this year and made big improvements. It would be even more impressive if Joseph could guide the Aztecs into the playoffs in his first season as coach. Both these teams have matchups with undefeated teams the following week, with Mesquite playing Deer Valley and Corona del Sol playing Hamilton, making this Friday's game even more important.
