How much longer can 6A Premier Reigion schools go on racking up victories. At least a week or two.

After that someone has to lose when region plays kicks in. As we head to Week 5 four of the five schools in the region are 4-0 -- Chandler, Hamilton, Basha and Brophy Prep. Perry is 3-1 with its loss to unbeaten Pinnacle.

Based on who each team faces this week only Basha has a tough assignment visiting Highland. In fact, Basha has the toughest schedule arguably in the state over the next six games. The Bears face Highland, Red Mountain, Hamilton, Chandler, Brophy and Perry. The rest of the region this week sees Chandler idle. Hamilton hosts Mountain Pointe, Brophy hosts Mesa Mtn. View and Perry visits Cesar Chavez. Suffice it to say the entire region will be playing in postseason either in the Open Division or 6A playoffs. Last year Hamilton was missing, but the Huskies are on their way to rectifying that.

A region that qualified all six of teams for postseason last year - the 5A San Tan - has a chance to duplicate that feat. Campo Verde is the only unbeaten team in the region to this point, but everyone else is .500 or better - Casteel, Williams Field, Higley, Gilbert and Maricopa. The region standings a year ago when play had ceased was top heavy led by Willams Field, Higley and Casteel. It will be interesting to see if Campo, Maricopa and Gilbert have closed the gap. 

Games that could define more conclusively where a few teams are at this week include Sunrise Mountain at Gilbert (5A), Northwest Christian at American Leadership - Gilbert (3A) and Chino Valley at Arizona College Prep (3A).
