Queen Creek coach Joe Germaine returned to the field he ruled a quarter-century ago ane he and the Bulldogs came away with the same result Germaine often exited with as a Mountain View Toro.

Queen Creek used six turnovers to set up four scoring chances and quarterback Trey Reynolds tossed three touchdown passes as the Bulldogs stifled Mountain View, 27-10, at Jesse Parker Field. Queen Creek improved to 3-1 while Mountain View dropped to 1-3.

"I was so proud of our defensive effort tonight," Germaine, a standout quarterback and safety back in 1992-1993, said. "We did what we wanted on offense running the ball, although we stopped ourselves more with too many penalties. The plan on offense was the run the ball, run the clock and get first downs."

Although Queen Creek didn't put together a sustained scoring drive on its own, it didn't have to thanks to the defense. That started from the opening kickoff. Queen Creek recovered a fumble by Mountain View on the kickoff return taking possession at Mountain View's 19.  Three runs got the bal to the 8 and that's where Reynolds tossed the first of his three scoring passes. This one was to junior wide out Colby Garvin between two defenders for a 7-0 lead barely two minutes into play.

The first of five interceptions came a minute later - Trey Reynolds at linebacker doing the honors. Queen Creek scored on the next play as Reynolds flipped a swing pass to senior running back Dayson Coleman good for a 10-yard TD. Ther try for two points failed making it 13-0 with just more than three miinutes elapsed. Coleman rushed 19 times for 115 yards and had a 50-yard run to open the third period negated by penalty.  He also had three receptions fo 20 yards.

Reynolds didn't throw often, but was efficient completing 10 of 11 passes for 105 yards. His third TD connection closed out the scoring early in the final period. I was a perfect 25-yard strike to senior receiver Keshaun Calip.

Desspite committing three turnover in the first half, Mountain View managed to stay in the game, trailing just 13-3 at intermission. The Toros three points in the opening half were set up by a blocked field goal, Jesus Garcia converted the three points with a 24-yard effort.

Special teams helped Mountain View pull within 13-10 with 9:19 left in the third quarter. The Toros blocked a punt this time and took over at Queen Creek's 30. Two plays later sophomore quarterback Willy Roberts connected from 27 yards out to Ethan Davidson.

The rest of the game belonged to Queen Creek. Three more interceptions of Roberts led to the final two QC touchdowns. Sophomore Payton Barlow broke off a 22-yard TD run to make it 20-10 late in the third period. Interception No. 4 game early in the fourth with Reynolds connection to Calip finishing the scoring.

Five players had picks for Queen Creek - Reynolds, Krew Jackson, Ammon Neville, Justin Prigge and Calip.

Mountain View, which was averaging 29 points a game, couldn't get possession enough with Queen Creek taking huge chunks of clock running the ball in the second half. And - -oh yeah - the six turnovers didn't help. Mountain View posted a season-low passing 143 yards. The Toros were averaging 289 yards through the air the first three weeks.

Roberts went solo at quarterback this week with senior Brandon Nieto not playing. Roberts favorite targets were Cash Clark (seven catches for 57 y yards) and Nico Remus (four catches, 55 yards).
